De Watergroep – Ready for the Future with System Upgrade and Updated Customer Portal

De Watergroep is the largest drinking water company in Flanders, providing drinking water to over three million customers, including households, businesses, and municipalities. In addition to producing and distributing drinking water, De Watergroep offers expertise and solutions for sustainable water management, industrial water treatment, and circular water projects.

De Watergroep approached Blastic with an important challenge: ensure that their CMS is future-proof. This challenge consisted of several components: updating the infrastructure on which the CMS operates, upgrading the CMS itself, and adapting the authentication system.
These efforts not only aimed to enhance the platform's security but also allowed for the creation of a new, efficient authentication system for De Watergroep's customers, ensuring safer and more user-friendly access to their platform.

Blastic addressed this challenge with a solution: upgrading the CMS and installing it on a new infrastructure, combined with an integration of De Watergroep's authentication system, Azure Active Directory B2C (ADB2C).

CMS Infrastructure and Authentication System

De Watergroep sought a future-oriented solution to modernize their platform and improve the user experience. A key focus was providing a secure, scalable infrastructure that seamlessly integrates with modern technologies, including advanced authentication systems. By implementing a new CMS platform and establishing a completely renewed infrastructure, we not only laid a robust foundation for the future but also created a modern, flexible login experience. The result: a user-friendly and secure solution that perfectly aligns with the needs of De Watergroep and its users.

CMS Upgrade and ADB2C Integration

Together with De Watergroep, Blastic analyzed the technical requirements of the existing platform, security needs, and the user experience for both new and existing customers. These discussions revealed that a tailored CMS upgrade and integration with De Watergroep's chosen user management solution, namely Azure Active Directory B2C, were essential to ensure both security and user convenience. This solution builds on a previous project, where we successfully linked De Watergroep’s new ERP system, and represents the next step in optimizing De Watergroep's digital ecosystem.

To address these needs, Blastic implemented a targeted solution:

  • CMS and Infrastructure Upgrade: A complete technical update of the infrastructure and CMS system to optimize platform security and future-proof the platform.
  • ADB2C Integration: Azure Active Directory B2C was integrated into the CMS to provide users with a secure, personalized, and seamless login process. This system supports various login methods (such as email, social login, and two-factor authentication) and ensures a smooth and secure user experience. Additionally, a full migration of user data was performed to minimize impact on customers. Through careful planning and execution, with functionalities phased out and reintroduced, users experienced no disruption during the migration, which was completed seamlessly.

Thanks to the improved authentication experience, De Watergroep continues to meet the highest security standards, while customers can log in smoothly and worry-free.
